The final fleet 20 trip for the season was to the annual Crystal Ball which was moved to September this year. What a difference a month can make! Instead of standing on shore sweating like we always do when it’s held in August, this year we were huddled near an open fire trying to keep our fingers and everything else warm. Good winds and rain were the rule of the day on Saturday. This didn’t keep either Jim Davis or Jack White from doing well as they were third and fourth (after an adjustment to the scoring). This lead to Jack and Sebastien, who planned only attending the first day (Jack had RM duty back at the club on Sunday), to rethink their decision to pack it in after they actually packed it in. They were very early birds Sunday morning putting stepping their mast and rigging their boat for race #4. A very admirable effort considering the social activities after the racing

Sunday brought a starting temperature in the low 40’s and winds pushing the 15 mph range. It seemed these conditions brought out the best in Jim and Marie Davis as they took third in a very competitive event. Bill Pfund (honarary PYC fleet member) won the event with the best sailing he had done all year with four bullets. .
