2007 SEASON SUMMARY HOME FLYING SCOT 50TH

PHOTO HIGHLIGHTS

Flying Scot Turns 50

Back in 1957 Sandy Douglas introduced a family daysailer that the whole family could use. Shortly after hitting the water, a year or so later an enthusiastic group started racing the boat and in 1959 the Flying Scot Class Association was formed to oversee the racing end of the growing fleet. To commemorate the golden anniversary of this popular design a group of PYC “Scotters” including Fritz Wagner, Jim & Marie Davis, Andrew Davis, BJ & Tina Johnson and Todd & Suzanne Moore took part in the festivities and celebration. There were games, socializing and even a couple of fun races (which begs the question: aren't all races fun?)

Preceding the big celebration event at Deep Creek, The Davis clan went all-out and raced in the nationals a few hundered miles east as Fishing Bay Yacht Club. Andrew in his first junior nationals took 7th out of 12 boats. With 59 boats on the line, Jim & Marie grabbed 52nd in the championship division in a very competitive event. Congratulations Flying Scot and may you have 50 more years of continued success.
