2007 SEASON SUMMARY HOME THIS, THAT & OTHER STUFF

PHOTOS: JUNIORS WHAT ARE THEY DOING 2007 GALLERY

This, That and Other Stuff

The 2007 season marked the return of the junior racing program. Spurred on by Bill O'Donnel and Brian Hawkins (who coincidentally had 5 of their own kids participating between them), the group got together on a couple of Saturday mornings in June for instruction and then began racing with the other small boats on Tuesday evenings. 9 boats in all took to the lake for fun and comradery while volunteers with motor boats drove Bill and Brain so they could coach the clubs youngsters.

This season found two, new skippers participating in the race program. In the Interlake fleet welcomed, Greg Harrison and Elona Van Gent #1168 to the group while Susan Aitken started racing with Flying Scots in #1687 (Ib’s old boat). Starting their first full season after getting a taste last season were Flying Scot sailors BJ & Tina Johnson FS #4351 and Jerry Best #586.

Todd Moore started a winter news letter “The Centerboard” to keep the group apprised of what was going on in the off-season. Both issue #1 and issue #2 were well organized and thought out.

Really Looking forward to 2008!!
