RESULTS AWARDS

This years event welcomed not only 14 sailors but also plenty of tropical moisture (two and half inches of rain) thanks to Hurricane Ike. With no wind and a lot of rain, former PYC Interlake sailor and PRO Dick Barker postponed racing for one hour waiting for conditions to improve per the radar. This proved to be a fortuitous decision as the rained let up a enough and a Southeast breeze filled allowing the racing to commence.

The first race of the day saw PYC’s Bill O’Donnel with crew Brian Hawkins #836 masterfully catch the wind and avoid the rain drops as they took a bullet with Steve Asbury #1402 close on his heels.

The second and last race of the day was delayed as both the rain and the wind ceased. After a 30 minute delay, race #2 and the final race of the day saw Andy Nixon with crew Kirsten Petro #1418 show off their Laser skills as both effortlessly rolled tacked up the first leg of the course catching each shift allowing them a very nice cushion that they never relinquished. Mr. Consistent Steve Aspery once again came in second giving him this year’s championship. Congratulations to all the participants for hanging in this years event.
